With the establishment of the EUNWA General Secretariat on October 16th 2021 in Venice, the Board was enriched with new members and a new impetus.

EUNWA’s mission remains unchanged: promote crime prevention among European citizens, support the emergence of the Neighbourhood Watch in countries where it is not yet present, encourage dialogue between European associations involved in security programmes, institutions, and citizens.

This new website reflects our original mission (you will find all the articles published on the old website) but adds the ability to be read in all European languages, expanding the audience of our potential users. We also felt it was important not only to publish articles related to the Neighbourhood Watch, but also those of general interest (always related to safety and security).

Our intention is to publish articles concerning the criminological theories underlying the practice of Neighbourhood Watch: this seems important to us in order to highlight the scientific basis of its activities.

We will promote on this website all public events organised by European institutions, associations and companies related to safety and security, as well as the news published by them regarding these topics.

We will propose in-depth studies on specific experiences of citizens' participation in the security of their communities and on the different organisational and participatory models of the Neighbourhood Watch in Europe, without neglecting the new emerging trends within neighbourhood micro-networks and the opportunities of social cohesion that they may offer.

We invite you to follow us.
